Sewing for Boys

27th August 2018

I don’t often get a chance to sew for my hubby and son but on a recent trip to Millie Moon I picked up this gorgeous Marvel fabric with both of them in mind. The little Pickle might only be coming up for four years old (and certainly not old enough for watching any superhero films) but he seems to know and love all superheroes.

I decided to make a fabric pot for the little man using this pattern (which is the same design that I made for our nursery). This is the perfect size to sit by his bed and hold all of his eczema creams.

I also made a pencil case/pouch for hubby. He is about to start training to be a teacher and I thought it would come in handy for him to hold lots of the kit he will need in the classroom. I used the Triplizip pattern by Jeni Baker of In Color Order. It is a pattern I have used before and really love (despite hating to work with zips). The instructions are very clear and the pouch makes up easily.

I think both boys were happy with their gifts, especially as I made them while they were out together and surprised them when they got home.
