Welcome to week 11 of my 2018 personal project #ayearofbringingnatureinside and can’t believe I am nearly ¼ of the way through my challenge. I am still struggling for much variety in my garden beyond daffodils and crocus, however I have been eyeing up some dried hydrangea heads all winter and decided I was probably safe to now cut one.
Hydrangeas are one of my favourite garden flowers but as well as the interesting foliage and beautiful pink blooms I also love the dried flower heads that I get to look at all winter long. Despite being a slightly dull colour they have such an interesting structure. They seem so delicate but stand up to winter weather so well.
This little beauty is now on my mantlepiece in a little vintage medicine bottle that I bought five years ago to hold flowers at our wedding. I collected loads of bottles at the time and afterwards sold a lot of them on, but I did manage to keep a few little bottles and this one from Boots is the perfect size for a single bloom.
Tell me, what do you have growing in your garden right now? I would love for you to join in with my challenge so please do share your natural arrangements on Instagram using the hashtag #ayearofbringingnatureinside
