A finished quilt and my 100th post

6th July 2018

I started this blog back in May 2017 and am today sharing my 100th post. I have loved writing about my creative adventures over the past 14 months and hope there will be many more posts to come.

To celebrate this milestone I thought I would share my most recent finish – a baby quilt for our little bump. Our second baby is due in the early autumn of 2018, and despite having pretty much saved all baby items from our first baby, I wanted this one to have his very own quilt.

I really struggled at first to decide what design to make but kept coming back to a simple half-square triangle design so decided to embrace it. I purchased Kona Solids by Robert Kaufman (my favourite solid fabrics) in black, white, two shades of grey and yellow. I love this colour combination and have used it a couple of times before.

This was a simple quilt to make but it was fairly time consuming to cut all of the squares, make the triangles and then assemble them (ensuring that all seams were flat).

I couldn’t believe it when I stumbled across some beautiful dinosaur fabric by Riley Blake that completely matched the shades of Kona Solids that I had picked. We love dinosaurs in this house so this seemed like the perfect choice. I used the 100% cotton wadding stocked by Millie Moon – this is such amazing quality and really is made to last.
